Optimising for oil extraction in anaerobic digestion

After many years of testing and evaluation, Bisviridi have discovered the best way to combine food waste oil separation and the AD process to optimise output and results.

  1. Once in the process, we divert a proportion of the feedstock from the conventional flow. We then separate the required oils, fats and greases before reintroducing it to the normal flow of the AD process.

  2. The extracted oil can then be sold to the technical oil market for further refinement into sustainable fuels.

  • The proportion of feedstock removed from the process for oil extraction can be adjusted according to the specific needs and requirements of the operator
  • The oil separator runs in tandem with the AD system. If it needs to be turned off, the AD runs independently on its own, meaning there is no interruption to the anaerobic digestion process or the outputs
  • Chemical oxygen demand (COD) of the feedstock is not normally compromised by this process and is easily compensated for, if minimum reductions are noted
